Hi,
I just found this great page when looking up for daibutsu and kannons in Japan.
I am trying to locate all of them and to visit :-)

The Ushiku Daibutsu Statue in Japan is just the worlds 3th tallest! The tallest is in China, called Spring Temple Buddha, 128m

Have you had a look at the Yun gang shi ku in china near Shan xi? The caves there are very impressive with multiple multiple statues carved into the mountains.
