That is my cousin Chris with his just-married-wife Anna at their wedding ceremony about 2 weeks ago. They newlyweds looked stunningly happy. I noticed that the church they had their wedding in looked classical. And then I thought about myself. About where I am going to have mine when my time comes. If it ever comes. =)

Anyways, I’m sure when you wed, you’d want to have a kick ass, memorable place to do it too. I searched and found many people asking about idea places to have a wedding at. Well, here are your answers for several of the common places found all over the world that you would want to have your wedding at.

Seaside / Beach / Ocean Front Wedding

Couples from all over the world exchanging vows on the white sugar sand beaches, with the emerald water and breath-taking sunsets as a backdrop. Escalate the excitement by having everyone go barefoot.

Castle / Mansion Wedding

Celebrities seem to have a thing with castles and mansions. One of the reasons lie in the magnitude of the place. All the rooms and halls are huge and can take thousands. I know there are lots and lots of castles in England, Scotland and Wales that make it as stunningly romantic venues for a wedding.

Church Wedding

Christians’ favourite wedding spot. It’s easier to organize, and the backdrop will never change be it stormy or sunshine.

Poolside Wedding

You can easily find a nice modern looking pool in any 5 star hotel near your city. If you could find a poolside by the ocean front, even better.

Garden Wedding

Sunrise brings out the best of garden weddings. It’s when the birds and bees are out and about.

Ballroom Wedding

It’s easier but it costs more. Guests will most certainly feel comfortable and grand as it is done in a ballroom.

Park Wedding

Ah.. the pond, the trees, the birds and a swing set.

Lake Wedding

Almost like the ocean front, only that instead of beaches, you’ll get mountains.

Boat / Cruise / Ship Wedding

The love boat. The difference is that you are moving. It feels like taking a journey.

Lighthouse Wedding

Something different. A wedding by the lighthouse brings about a historical, classical feeling.

Waterfall Wedding

Waterfall weddings rock! Get engulfed with the tranquility of nature surrounding it, especially the sound of the water falling.

Bridge Wedding

There are scenic bridges around but you have to put in some effort to search for them. It’s special, as it looks a bit like a fairytail affair. It signifies the ‘bridging’ of two people.

Art Gallery Wedding

Art galleries are posh places. Imagine your wedding event being adorned by astounding works of art.

Fountain Wedding

Imagine having fountains as a beautiful backdrop for weddings. It’s nice, serene and unique.

Mountain Top Wedding

Nothing else makes you feel more on top of the world than a wedding on a mountain top overlooking the valley or city.

Lying is something that happens everyday in every society. A person may want to to deceive, maintain a secret or reputation, or to avoid punishment. In business, politics, romance or at home it happens and it would also be nice to know when we’re being lied to.

Fidgeting

Fidgeting is the most obvious giveaway. Watch for hands and legs that are shaky, rubbing, stiff, self directed, touching the face, nose, chest or behind the ear. Arms crossed over the chest while speaking is the body language for protection and sense of insecurity linked to lying. Other actions include biting the lip, covering the mouth, rubbing the forehead or temple, squinting of the eyes or rubbing of the neck. Women tend to touch their throat’s trachial area.

Over Denial

Repeating protests of innocence.

Lack Of Detail

Liars’ stories often lack detail. Push for particulars. The more specific details that a liar has to provide, the more likely he is to slip up.

Uncooperative

Liars are noticeably less cooperative. They are also more likely to complaint, make more negative statements and appear unfriendly to minimize slip ups.

Eye Contact

Unwillingness to make or never breaking eye contact is often sign of deceit.

Dilated Pupils

Dilated pupils and a rise in vocal pitch are more common in liars than people who told the truth.

Pausing

Forced to make up a story on the spot, most speakers will take a beat or two to collect their thoughts. Lies require a quick mental review of what they have told others to avoid inconsistency and to make up new details as needed.

Inconsistency

Having someone repeat the story again will enable you to look for inconsistencies to ferret out lies.

Consciously Trying Too Hard

Someone who is consciously trying to make you think he’s honest may be lying. For example you may hear the phrase ‘to be honest’ more often than not. Generally, people assume that they will be trusted most of the time. If someone expects otherwise, take a moment to think.

Being Open To Possibilities

Liars succeed in the area where listeners themselves do not really want to know the truth. So be honest with yourself about what it is you want to hear. A boss may want to believe that a trusted employee didn’t have his hand in the cookie jar. However, does the story make sense?

Eye Direction

Their eyes are not fixed upon whom they are speaking to. If the person looks up to the left upper corner of their eye, they are pulling strategy from their right side of the brain, which is the creative side, therefore creating a situation or lying. Looking at the right upper corner of the eye will invoke the left side of the brain which indicates visual recalling.

Stuttering

Stumbling over words without natural fluency.

Change Of Subject

Changing subjects quickly. A liar will definitely welcome the change and try to maintain the new subject. Their interests are clearly seen. An innocent person will appear confuse and may also try returning to the previous subject.

Level Of Comfort

When someone is comfortable with you while answering your questions, they will move to their comfort positions, eg. tilting their head to one side or the other. When asked a question that they might lie about or feel threatened by, they will straighten or stiffen up, no longer tilting their head.

Unusually Longer Response

Q : Are there any drugs or weapons in your car?
A : There shouldn’t be.
Q : Is this your car?
A : Yes.

There are drugs and/or guns/knives in the car. An innocent person in their own car would answer with an emphatic ‘NO’. Unusually much longer responses or too many details may tip you off to their desperation to get you to believe them.

Filling The Gap

Someone trying to lie may also ‘bridge’ over something they do not want to tell you.

Ah’s Um’s Er’s

People using um, ah, hmm, before answering questions are trying to think of an answer, that more times than not, is going to be a lie.

Over Formal Speech

Use of long words, painfully correct grammar and the full form of words or phrases that would normally be shortened, suggesting a scripted speech rather than natural conversation.

Very Few Gestures And No Pointing

Physical movements illustrating something being described is a common and natural activity.

Justification

Attempting to justify every detail with lengthy explanations.

Conflict In Verbal And Physical Projection

You can find many discrepancies between a lie and the actions. You may also find mismatches between the tone of voice and expression. Be sensitive to the person’s emotional expression, specifically the timing and duration, which tends to be off when someone is lying. Emotions can be delayed, remain longer than usual, then stop suddenly. Likewise, they might not match appropriately with verbal statements.

Most Obvious Giveaway

On paper. Seeing what someone said in writing is much more effective in detecting lies than listening to them.

If someone who knows what he is going to be asked will surely have prepared himself. The best liars in the world are the most thorough ones. For example, when Bill Clinton looked at those reporters and told them he never had relations ‘with that woman’ and never blinked or gave ANY indication he was lying, he broke the mold.

The goal is to put a smile on their faces. As a token of appreciation for the effort and contribution of our fathers for the past 1 year. It’s around the corner and if you still need ideas on what to get for your father, here are 16 suitable father’s day gifts.

Electronic shaver / after shave

All men need this. Save your dad time and get him an electronic shaver. If he already has one, get him an aftershave. Aftershave is essential in closing up the exposed skin pores that happens after shaving. This will prevent any bacteria or dirt from accumulating inside. If you’re a guy and you don’t use aftershave, the red spots that you see after shaving are actually bacteria.

Cologne

Cologne is consumable. Sooner or later, he will finish the current one. Look out for the Father’s Day promotion specials in perfume outlets. They tend to have discounts.

New / interesting underwear / briefs / boxers

Check out his waist size. Then check out whether if he wears briefs, boxers or underwear. Get him a new pair or 2. Throw in some humor. Buy heart shaped ones or polka dots. =P

iPod / accessories

Get him an ipod. If he already has one, get him ipod accessories. Men are all about gadgets.

Laptop accessories

Get him a new laptop skin. You can easily find lots of different laptop skins in online auction sites like ebay.

Digital photo frame key chain viewer

USB digital photo frame that stores pictures will be good for new dads. He can easily show off pictures of his kids when asked.

Jersey / cap / gloves / golf balls

Sports. Most men love sports. Be it golf, baseball, football, basketball, soccer or tennis. Buy him a jersey, baseball cap or golf balls of his favorite player. If he likes to swim, get him a pair of anti fog goggles. A sports bag will also do fine.

Watch

My suggestion would be a nice watch as a gift. It’s like jewlrey without being flashy and girly. Plus it’s thoughtful and practical. And then he gets to wear your present everyday!

Coffee mug

If he doesn’t get him a coffee mug. If he already has one, make him a coffee mug warmer.

Fountain pen

If doesn’t already, get him a fountain pen. Fountain pens are nice to write with because they produce a much more reliable flow of ink.

Wallet / Tie

It’s the most common guy gift. Wallet or tie. Fits well as a gift on any occasion.

A fridge full of his favorite drink

Imagine him waking up to a fridge full of beer. Or a cupboard full of packets of his favorite coffee flavor.

A favorite meal treat / a bag of his favourite chips

As they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Bring him out for a dinner. Go someplace that serves his favorite meal. You can also surprise him with a cupboard full of his favorite chips / nuts.

Wallpaper

Print out a poster and stick it on your wall. Have his picture in it, preferably looking cool with sunglasses on or something, and print it out into a big poster consisting of several A4 paper sizes. Or you can take a picture with the rest of the family holding up a ‘Happy Father’s Day!’ sign. Here’s instructions on how to do it.

Write a poem

The things you taught me I will always know.
How could I not? The roots have sunk so deep:
All lessons of the heart that I will keep
No matter who I am or where I go.
Kids learn from what their parents are, and so
You are my book of life, the thoughts I reap;
From you I learned the rules of right and wrong
Against which I at times had to rebel,
Though with regret I carry with me still.
How lucky I am to have been loved so well,
Even as I pushed against your will,
Relying on a father fair and strong.

Body massage

Bring him out on a 1 hour full body massage. Check out the prices and promotions beforehand. Make a booking preferably after lunchtime. Anyone would love being massaged. It feels good.

Recently, I’ve been bugged by telemarketers of Celebrity Fitness, a local gym. I’m not sure how they got my number, but they got my number. Sometimes they don’t really understand the meaning of ‘not interested’. Other telemarketers are smart enough to start the conversation by announcing that I’ve just won a prize. It’s either a product or a holiday package. The requirement is usually my details or either I have to go collect the prize from their office.

Whatever it is, I realized the importance of my rights. I don’t want to give out my details only to find out that it’s been sold to other telemarketing firms. Here are 8 questions to ask if you smell something fishy going on.

Identification

Are you calling to sell something? maybe a product or service?

Is this a telemarketing call?

Get the details

Could you tell me your full name please?

And also your phone number?

What’s the name of the organization you’re calling for?

Prevention

Does that organization keep a list of numbers it’s been asked not to call?

I would like my number(s) put on that list. Can you take care of that now?

And does the company you work for also make telemarketing calls for any other organizations? (If yes) Can you make sure your company won’t call me for any other organization?

All you need to do is just remember the 3 step process every time you get that call. Identify the nature of the call, get the telemarketer’s detail and prevent yourself from any other related junk calls. TRY to talk as nicely as you can. If you feel cheeky, you can always make things interesting by playing a prank.

Junk Busters
Keep your life peaceful and free

Relationship. Yes, all of us are in it. Friends or family. It’s life’s cycle. When we were young, we thought that life was gonna be beautiful cause at that time, we were only concerned with playing and enjoying ourselves without much care in the world. As we grew up, the challenges grew bigger and the hits grew harder. All sorts of problems arose one by one out of nowhere. Family problems, relationship problems and love problems are the most common. I scoured the web and found 9 interesting questions that is worth looking into. Below each question is my opinion. Your comments are most welcomed. =)

My friend is suicidal. How I be of help?

According to the National Mental Health Association, more than 19 million Americans suffer from depression each year. Among teens, one out of five is depressed. Suicide comes into a person’s mind when life reaches a climax of unbearable pain. These are the times your friend doesn’t think he can ever get through, but when he does, he won’t know how he got through it. Here are several ways to deal with it.

Try talking to your friend. If you think that the source of depression comes from the family, don’t speak with them. If not, talk to his parents. Let them know about your concern and the seriousness of the situation. Talk to a professional about it. Ending a person’s life is something that cannot be replaced. Once gone, it’s gone forever.

Be a true friend and keep his mind occupied. Pick up a hobby together that uses up a lot of strength and power. Maybe he’s a pain glutton. Try body building. It will keep his body in shape and healthy, plus release all the rage inside.

Start buying him lots and lots of dark chocolate. Why? Cause it keeps a person happy. Really. Dark chocolate has this thing called ‘phenylethylamine’ which enhances your mood.

Do something crazy with him. Go for a haircut. Something different for a change. Dye it, highlight it, shave it. Whatever. Feel new. Feel different. Feel good.

Have a look at depression.com

How do I ask my crush out?

Look for common ground. Music, class, office politics or even mutual friends will help.

Timing is very important. Don’t ask during breaks. Ask in private. When I was in school, I waited till after class to ask. My chance came when both our parents came late to pick us up. *jeng* *jeng* *jeng*… when opportunity came knocking on my door, I took it. =P

Maybe there’s no chance that you and your crush could be alone for even a moment. Or maybe you’re too shy. Then, this is where other methods of communication come in. You can choose to email her, sms her, write a note and leave it on her desk.

Ask your friends for help. Invite him/her out to fun and interesting activities like movies or dinners with mutual friends so that both of you have a comfortable environment to start in.

My best friend got a boyfriend and now she ignores me. What should I do?

It’s good to know that your best friend ignored you. It shows that you are only ‘used’ when she is lonely. But if you still think of all the years and good times that you’ve went through together and it makes you sad to see the friendship end, confront her. Tell her how you feel. Tell her about the disappointment you feel. Tell her (if you and her are best friends I believe you will be crying when you say this) that ‘these tears are the last tears’ that you will ever cry for her. Warn her to not come and cry to you if/when she breaks up with her boyfriend.

Yeah. That should sound better. Remember, do not risk yourself by asking questions. Just say how you feel and how you will treat her from that day onwards. The day will come when she grows up, but until then, carry on with your life.

What is considered cheating on someone?

Simple. It’s cheating if you say yes to these 4 :

you have to hide it or lie about it.

it’ll lower your partner’s self-esteem.

you feel guilty about it.

you wouldn’t want your partner to do it.

My mom and I don’t have a good relationship. What can I do to improve it?

Write out your feelings in a journal and let her read them when she’s calm. Blogging helps.

Maybe your mom doesn’t mean to have a bad temper. Maybe your mom is probably frustrated with her work or family situation. Maybe her anger is towards things you do or you don’t do. Maybe she a lot of things to do in very little time. Maybe you can contribute in getting some things done for her.

Try movies, lunch, dinner, concerts, park rides or just give her a surprise b’day party. Try to reacquaint by doing things together.

How do I get along with my parents and talk to them without crying?

From a child’s perspective, some parents

act like they know everything

always boss you around

are picky

strict

extra overprotective

embarrass them in front of their friends.

I believe that children are the products of their parents whose message to their children is ‘do as I do’, and until some children breaks the cycle, only then will morality and bondage come back.

Ask yourself. Do they yell or overreact? Do you feel like you’re not being heard? Do they treat you like a child instead of a person who is becoming an adult? It would be helpful if you can let them know the reasons why you get upset.

Try talking to one parent at a time. A letter would also be a good idea. And try not to jump to conclusions. Most parents want to help their children with difficult problems. If you expect a parent to respond with a lecture and not really hear you out, you might actually get what you expect. Although it may be a little scary to think about, it is often true that the way we approach a situation has a lot to do with what happens. For example, if we approach a situation with negative expectations, we may do things to make a negative outcome more likely. On the other hand, if you can try to be open and honest, then your parents might also respond openly and honestly.

My boyfriend is all about my boobs. How do I get him to notice me and not my breasts?

lol. Talk to him. Tell him about how you feel. That’s it. If he’s still being childish about it. Then maybe you should reevaluate your relationship. A relationship without respect is like Wan Ton Soup without Won Ton. A couple who stops thinking and acting alike will lose attraction to each other. Once a person changes his character and outlook, the relationship will change too.

My parents walked in on my girlfriend and me having sex. What should I do now?

Damn. This is tough. Locks were invented for a reason, right? One thing is for sure. Parents will either react hard or easy. Believe me, both parties will surely be embarrassed. Sometimes it will result in anger, sometimes it will result in a mutual understanding.

If they don’t say anything, let it be. If they do behave or act funny, approach them for a time where you and your parents can talk about it. Be honest and open for comments. Remember that other people’s opinion of you does not have to become your reality. Let them finish talking before you say anything. Show some respect. When it’s your turn to talk, expect the same.

One more thing, please remember to lock the room. =)

I broke up with a guy who i really cared for and ever since then i am horribly sad. How can I get over this depression?

Time heals all wounds. Not your friends, family, comedies or counseling but time.

Eat a bar of Hershey’s daily. It should keep you happy. Don’t over eat, ya.

Take up a sport. Let go of all the frustration on the cycling machine, treadmill and dumbbells.

The universal rule of karma. What goes around, comes around.

Once you’ve healed. Get a life. Socialize. Make as many friends as you can and stick to the ones that are true and honest. Make sure you have a life of your own before hopping on another relationship. See what you wanna achieve in life and go for it. Know that nothing in this world last forever. You should live your life for no one else in this world, but yourself.

I have made lots of good friends in my life journey of 24 years so far. Though there were bad times, there were good ones. I believe that friends are the ones who will follow us through life. Like how we only share most of our secrets with our friends and not our parents. You can’t divorce a friend. So friends are forever. Really. Below, I’ve compiled a list of 10 ways to keep friendships strong.

Differences in family background

This is where peer pressure comes in. I learned that in wherever I go to, there will always be someone better, richer, smarter, and better looking than me. No matter what, there will always be a difference between 2 people. True friends will accept each other for who they are. Like for example, I have never been to Kenny’s (not the real name) house before. Kenny is also sort of sensitive whenever talks of visiting him in his house crops up. Well, whatever the reason was, I respected his choice of keeping it a secret and never mentioned it. We have been friends for 8 years now.

Do unto others what you want other to do unto you

The golden rule. Applies to anyone anywhere everytime. Talk to them when they need you. Listen to their problems and try to solve it together. Give them space to go on dates. Don’t expect to hang out every weekend during game days. I’m sure I’d like the space to go on dates myself.

Admit it and apologize

Friends will ALWAYS forgive you, no matter what. ALWAYS. I got into a huge argument over a pesky thing with Sam once and we didn’t communicate for awhile. I boycotted Nicholas when I felt pissed with his selfish character. I shared Jack’s secret with the others and he was pissed but didn’t know who spilled it. All in all, I admitted my wrong and apologized. Though it was hard on my ego, I still did it. It felt better afterwards.

Let go

Move on. You have to let go. Or else you will be living in the residual of the past. That was what you were, not what you are. So don’t make the mistake of making who you will be into who you were.

Compliment them in front of others

It feels good to be complimented. Do it only when you have real compliments to give. If you think the new top looks like a garbage bag, keep it to yourself. Say only things you yourself would want to hear.

Take vacations together

Go to an island or beachfront somewhere. Somewhere away from the city and close to nature. The unfamiliarity of the place will keep you guys together. Going for outdoor activities like jungle trekking, snorkeling and sightseeing is healthy and low cost.

Ditch work or responsibilities to play with them

This can only happen once in awhile. Like when my friends from outstation come to my neighborhood for a holiday, I’ll usually make time for them. I’ll take them to go eat mind blowing food, go hang out by the beach, watch movies or just hang out by Starbucks. Friends will feel appreciated and you will be remembered for the hospitality and attention given.

Give the benefit of the doubt

Nicholas is bad tempered. He has a strong sense of controlling things and doesn’t stay in relationships long. For example, when he blames his ex for mistreating him, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and believe him. The relationship is between him and her, so all I can do is just lend an ear and hope that things get better between them.

Keep your promises

There is a saying that I have up in my wall that goes, ‘A man is nothing in this world if he doesn’t keep his word’. Be like dark clouds. You’ll know that it will rain when you see thick, black clouds. It will improve trustworthiness and reliability between your friendships.

Let them make their own decisions

Keep your expectations low. Be prepared for answers either way. For example, I wanted to join Amazing Race and in my honest opinion, Benny will make the best partner. I believe that if we got chosen, chances are high that we could make it to the finals. He’s a tough, sportive and reasonable person. I asked but he didn’t want to. I wanted to, but didn’t push him to join me. I respected his choice and moved on.

Facial expressions are facial muscles moving to show the result of our feelings. It is a natural way for us to convey social information to one another. Of course we can control our facial expressions by acting but because of the close connection with emotions, it is often shown involuntarily. It’s nearly impossible for me to laugh happily when I am feeling afraid. Let’s say I got annoyed and pissed off by this girl. However, I want to refrain from saying regrettable things. I will nevertheless show a brief expression of disgust before being able to continue preserving my cool.

Below 7 of the most easily identifiable facial expressions besides frowning, pouting, sneering and snarling. Being able to read them well and react properly will help improve situations.

Anger

The face above is a response to threats like conflict, injustice, negligence, humiliation or betrayal. It’s normal to feel angry at times cause our brains have this thing called the amygdala (sounds like Star Wars’ Queen Amidala) which is responsible for identifying threats, and for sending out an alarm when threats are identified. So, the only thing that cans top anger is wisdom. Not one including my parents, friends or mentor can stop me from feeling angry except me and myself. The restructuring of my thoughts and beliefs will help me to bring about a causal reduction in anger. Here’s a brilliant ten step program for anger management that I wrote under ‘Wrath‘. An angry face is repelling, and no one feels like helping an angry person.

Fear

Fear on the other hand is a powerful, unpleasant feeling of risk or danger, either real or imagined. A person feeling fear will have blood rushing to big muscles (like legs) to allow the person to run faster. Also the body freezes up just an instant to give the brain an instance to decide if another reaction would be better (like hiding). For example, I have this phobia on cockroaches. When ever I see one crawling up the sink, I will instantly pull my mother from whatever she is doing to my bathroom to settle the cockroach. I’ll just have to say,’Mom, please come up for awhile’ and by just looking at my facial expression, she knows. =P As humans, we can sense a lie from fear in the facial expression and words.

Happiness

Feelings of enjoyment and satisfaction. Happiness is the result of well-being, delight, health, safety, contentment, and love. This is the result of self-reported positive affects during the day by 909 employed women in Entrez Pubmed’s Survey. If being with friends make you happy, be with them more. The facial expression of happiness is the most attractive among all and it should happen as often as possible.

Sadness

The opposite of happiness. Depression is defined as the deeper and longer version of sadness. It is a result of feeling hopeless and discouraged. Major examples are a change of residence, marriage, divorce, the break-up of a significant relationship, the death of a loved one, graduation, or job loss. Just like anger, only we can stop ourselves from feeling sad. Like for example, when I broke up with my first love, I was pretty sad. Everyday when I look up at the sky, it felt dark and cloudy. I was lonely, desperate and moody. Not even time could help. Not long after that I went to cousin’s party and my uncle saw my facial expression and asked me. I told him what happened and he told me 3 things that made me think hard. He said, ‘Relax, Chris. People never change, people only grow. And no matter what, no matter what, the sun will always rise tomorrow’. It took away my worries and I grew up. =)

Surprise

Surprise is a feeling of shock due to something perceived as unexpected. I recently saw a lot of this expression in my friends and relatives’ faces after not seeing me for some time. Why? Cause I was working out regularly at the local gym and loss weight. It’s actually complimenting for me. It’s happiness on my side. =P When your partner tell you that she is pregnant, that will be a hell of a surprise on your face. When you find out that your partner is cheating on you, that will also be a hell of a surprise. When you find out that you’ve finally made it to the job of your dreams, imagine the look of your face. =) It usually results in either a positively or negatively obvious facial reaction.
